We’re grateful for every guest who finds comfort, connection, and calm with us ‒ their stories inspire ours.
''A peaceful oasis in the heart of Kigali."
At the Governor’s Residence, the feeling of home and privacy is immediate — a calm, intimate space designed for those who want to unwind without crowds, noise, or the rush of a large hotel. Guests come to sit back, enjoy a quiet glass of wine, and settle into the warmth of a place that feels personal from the very first moment. Much of its charm comes from the atmosphere: peaceful gardens, thoughtful service, and food that surprises guests with its quality and care. It’s a property where you can enjoy the company of a dedicated team without ever feeling surrounded, and where the balance between comfort and stillness comes effortlessly. Step outside and Kigali is within easy reach; return, and you’re greeted by quiet corners, friendly faces, and a gentle sense of belonging. It’s this combination — serenity, space, and genuine hospitality — that makes the Governor’s Residence one of the city’s most memorable retreats.

"A residence where business feels personal."
At the Governor’s Residence, every stay feels truly personal — a place for travelers who value privacy, consistency, and genuine human connection. With only seven rooms and a dedicated staff member assigned to each guest, the experience is calm, attentive, and deeply individual. Its location adds to this sense of balance: close to the airport, the convention center, and Kigali’s lively restaurants and shops — yet peaceful enough to return to after a full day of business or exploration. Whether you need transport, a quiet meeting room, or a private lunch arranged on short notice, support is always effortless and discreet. Step outside and you’re in the heart of Kigali; step back inside and you return to warmth, quiet, and the comfort of being known. That’s what makes this place memorable.

"Where privacy meets purpose — and every stay tells a story."
At the Governor’s Residence, the sense of exclusivity begins with its story — a quiet retreat transformed from a simple garden into a place shaped by patience, design, and a genuine love for hosting. What was once mango trees and sugar cane is now a sanctuary where privacy, diplomacy, and the feeling of being personally cared for come naturally and without effort. This spirit continues in the way each stay unfolds: meals served whenever you wish, time with the chef to discuss your preferences, and a rhythm that allows you to rest deeply in the middle of the city. Many guests arrive for one night and stay for more, discovering how easy it is to feel at home while still steps away from Kigali’s convention center, restaurants, and lively streets. Step outside and you feel the energy of the city; step back inside and you return to calm, greenery, and staff who know you by name. It’s a place where details matter — from the way you’re welcomed to the way your routines are understood — and where each visit lingers as a warm reminder of comfort, privacy, and belonging.

The Story Behind the Governor’s Residence
After years of welcoming guests across Rwanda, I saw a need for something different in the capital - a place that offers true calm and privacy in the heart of Kigali.
That vision led to the creation of the Governor’s Residence. A discreet hideaway with only a handful of suites. No outside walk-ins while guests are staying.
Just peaceful garden views, warm hospitality, and space to feel at ease. Located in one of Kigali’s quietest neighborhoods - just 20 minutes from the airport - it’s a rare kind of sanctuary for travelers arriving from long journeys or returning from gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Just like at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, my team and I believe that real luxury is quiet, intentional, and personal.
This is a place to be truly present - and to feel at home. - Robert Twibaze, Founder & Owner
